Dear Elsie,

I am still enjoying your yoga classes on my ipod. However, I miss seeing you every Friday at the Center for Yoga.

I would love to have you support the Walk to D’Feet ALS. ALS is also called Lou Gehrig’s disease. It is a progressive neuromuscular disease that destroys the motor neurons. Patients loose their ability to move, talk, eat and breathe. Curt Schilling, a Red Sox pitcher, says “ALS is like being in jail when you have not committed a crime.” On January 20, The ALS Association Arizona Chapter is having a Walk to D’Feet ALS to raise money for our patient services, ALS clinics and ALS research.

Just Thursday a Phoenix company announced that they have found the 50 genes that are defective in sporatic ALS. The gene for genetic ALS was found several years ago. The race for the cure is getting closer to the finish line so money for research is critical right now.

Since we breathe and move in yoga, it seems fitting that your yoga birthday bash should help those who cannot move and breathe. I would love to have all my LA yoga buddies, who I sincerely miss, to help me with this cause.

This will allow you to set up a team. From your team site other people can join your team and get their donors to contribute. You can be a virtual walker, so no one has to drive to Phoenix to participate. There are great prizes for the high fundraising teams or you can chose to have all the money go to The ALS Association Arizona Chapter.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
