Yeay! Salute the Sun Easily!

Hmmmmm

Where has Elsie gone to you ask? Well, getting swallowed up by the Pittsburgh winter, if you must know 🙁

I have been unable to even have an opportunity to practice regularly let alone find somewhere to teach. It’s been a very challenging for me now that I have a full time 9-5 job. I now spend all of that time infront of a computer! And it’s been so cold and dreary that I have not wanted to step into anything other than my yummy home and sleep.

I have become a bear that happens to work on the internet for a living 😉

I will be back, fully at some point. I just cannot, in all honesty and integrity tell you when this will happen, and when I do I guarantee that it will be a much different Elsie! That’s all I gotta say…

I created this video to a fellow internet buddy, Nick Schmidt. We met randomly through online community and he asked me to teach him a little bit of yoga, and I did…with this little video.

Simple, short and precise. A great way to get your yoga practice in even if you only have 5 minutes 🙂 I usually add music and all that jazz, and I may in the future, but I just quickly edited this puppy and decided to publish. To get something out for y’all!!!

Would love to hear your feedback! I would love to hear from you guys all the way around. You guys have now become my only connection to the Kula. How very ironic that Elsie’s Yoga Kula is now fueled by you guys. I love it! This is what it’s all about!

Please leave me a review in iTunes! or tell a friend about this podcast 😀

Thank you, Elsie. I’ve been a vistor to your site for almost a year, albeit on a less-than-regular basis. I practiced Hatha yoga (Iyengar method) for several years, first in Seattle and then in Queens, NYC. It’s been far too long, though, since I’ve done … well, since I’ve been grounded. (A life-stage crisis arrived 3 years ago and delivered a knockout punch. But I am healing now.)

Whenever I visited your site, I always sensed that someday you’d provide me with an important source of inspiration. It’s what kept me coming back.

So why, after many months, did I visit this morning and watch your “Sun Salutation” video? And why, after resisting EVERY attempt to get me moving again *for 3 years* did I stand up, push my computer chair out of the way, and practice this asana along with you? (I’m especially happy that neither you or *anyone* saw my rendition of Sun Salutation. It was so pathetic it was funny!) But I FELT it! Something had begun shifting in me about 2-3 weeks ago, but moving through that asana was powerful.

You’re real busy and waiting for spring “to spring” in Pittburgh (we’re getting 8 inches of snow today in southern NH). For now, enjoy what you can. But PLEASE don’t apologize for how “brief” or “rushed” you imagine this video to have been: It touched me. You gave me some of that bright, fast energy I’ve been missing.

All I can say is what a spiritual guide recited repeatedly during a particularly memorable healing ritual:

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Ken

Hey!! 🙂 Thanks a lot for doing this video for me. I haven’t done it in a while either. My Dr. told me I need to work out again.

Maybe I can do these moves again. If there is anything new. Send me another video and we can have fun with all this again!!!

Help?! I have a brand new iPod Classic 80GB and I’m getting an error from iTunes that this podcast “was not copied to the iPod” (my ipod name) “because it cannot be played on this iPod”. Is the resolution just too big? Is the filename too long?

So sorry about that Phil! here’s a link to the same video but encoded to work on the iPod.

Since I don’t do too many videos, I don’t often pay attention to the encoding, ooops sorry 🙁

I was glad to find this, but one suggestion for future videos (especially ones with “beginner” in the title is that you slow down a bit in the speed at which you go through the poses. It was a little fast for me to follow along with. It was helpful, even if it was fast.

I totally agree with you! I made this vid specifically for a friend of mine. He was interested in something quick and simple. He also lives far away from me. We decided to do a little experiment. He responded with his response to the vid. I never meant it to be one for ‘all’ to see. I decided to re cut it and post it just cause it was there 🙂 If I were to do this for ‘everyone’ I would definitely slow it down and focus a lot more! thanks for the comment!

Oh and if you’re interested, here’s the link to the video with my friend doing the salutation 🙂

Thank you so much for this little vid. I am a mom and very busy with work and all, and very grateful to you for this. I hope you know that there are a lot of us out here who are trying to do better for ourselves, without much time or – of course – money. Thanks.
