I turned it up a notch. This specific class on the schedule at the studio says a level 1-2 class, but I went a little bit more 😉 The pace of this class is a bit faster than I usually teach. I also didn’t do too many alignment principles through the vinyasa sequences, it was much more about moving with the breath and just opening up the body. I was inspired by a class that I had taken earlier in the week taught by one of my yogi friends, William Duprey. Y’all have to check out his website, he’s just great!

what poses are comprised in the 1/2 sun salutation? Standing, or on the ground?
Thanks!
Thanks for the question Gail! All right, so a half sun salutation is only the beginning of Surya Namaskar A (Sun Salutation A) Starting in Tadasana (mountain pose), inhale raise your arms up over head, exhale fold forward into Uttanasana (forward bend), inhale half way up, Ardha Uttanasana (with legs straight, extend the chest forward) exhale fold back into Uttanasana (forward fold), inhale, circle the arms up over head and come back to Tadasana (standing Mountain Pose). That is a half sun salutation. Check out this link: http://yogajournal.com/practice/1686_1.cfm, you can watch a nifty little demo of Surya Namaskar A, in this demo 1-5 is a half sunsalutation, so instead of continuing into plank and all that jazz, you just return back up! Hope that was helpful! If you need more info, please feel free to ask some more 🙂
Thanks! I wasn’t for sure. I call the “other” half of the sun salutes, the “lower floor series”. (Down Dog, Plank, Chatarunga, Cobra/UpDog back to Down Dog and repeat and repeat for lots of fun!) What is your “new” fun pose?
Lower floor series! That’s great! I wanna repeat and repeat for lots of fun, I’ll make my peeps do that tomorrow 🙂 All right, so I’m going to have one of my students take a picture of the pose, so that it should be up tomorrow morning by about 9:30am LA time!
Okay, stupid question, your podcast, is that audio only? I did tne instructions, did the itunes thing, and heard ya great. But I was wondering if I was suppose to get video too. I get the daily podcast from yoga today and the weekly one from chaz at yogamazing out of L’ville, so I was wondering…. I’m having fun figuring out your sequences (specially, since I’m not sanskrit enlightened ;)!gaileee
yep! it’s audio only! hence the need for the pics, you see 😉 I finally put them up, so check them out, if you click on the pic you should get a larger picture!
I think it’s really fun to just listen, as you get chance to really make it your practice! yeay! Both Chaz and the ladies of yoga today are great, I just don’t have the time honestly to do the whole video thing, I can barely take pictures and post them!
Ohh, I like this “bound downward dog split”, or lets say, “bound standing straddle split”? Hmmm, or “anchored downdog split”. Or, “anchored three legged dog”. Hey, what would the sanskrit name for this be?
You have a very melodic voice. Nice.
Gaileee
