This episode was absolutely inspired by one of you.
I was asked basically how to practice yoga daily. This is something that I think about every day, that I meditate on, and continue to refine.
I’m not going to describe my own process but tell you what it boils down to, at least for me: Meaning and Truth.
If you don’t first and foremost ask yourself who you want to be in the world, what has meaning, what has value to you, and continue to refine the answer and deepen the questions again and again, whatever you decide to do (be it a daily asana practice) will be unsustainable.
If you do refine your questions and lack integrity in the way that you live your life, by telling yourself little lies and convincing yourself that they ‘don’t really matter’, no matter what you do, you will not be able to sustain your practice. Particularly your practice of being the best human being that you can be, with a full and clear heart.
I’m only sharing ‘cause I’ve been there. I tried really hard. Doesn’t work.
The more that you refine the sacredness of your life and live in truth the more freedom and lightness you will have and reflect. It is through choosing to remain steady with great sensitivity no matter what, that the ease and goodness of life becomes a daily gift to unwrap and enjoy. You will then not only have the deep strength needed to sustain this but also offer this great support to all those that you touch 😀
Now on that positive note 😉
Happy New Year!

“If you don’t first and foremost ask yourself who you want to be in the world, what has meaning, what has value to you, and continue to refine the answer and deepen the questions again and again, whatever you decide to do (be it a daily asana practice) will be unsustainable.” <~ This is crazy-profound. And it basically smacked me over the head with a great cosmic DUH! 🙂 I have all the externals on my side — deity, relationship, desire, talent, disciple. But I'm missing the internal — I have never asked myself who I want to be in this world. Wow. Wow wow and more wow. Thanks, Elsie. 🙂 (By the way, this is @betherann from Twitter.)

I’ve LOVED all your contributions. I can’t EVEN stand it! It’s too much…You are amazing
Oof, make that discipline, not disciple. 🙂

I have been thinking and thinking and thinking about this, and so of course I eventually had to make it a writing meditation. Here’s the result: http://www.kitchencourage.com/2011/01/who-do-you-want-to-be-in-world.html
Again, thank you for the deep thoughts!

Of course you had to share and express and create. I adore that you took the time to come and check back in with me 😉 xoxoxooxox
Hi Elsie!
Ok, I first off want to say how much what you’ve said in this podcast resonates with me. To not just know our meaning (or an inkling of it!), but to walk with *truth*…. wow. So powerful, and so much for me to reflect and meditate on. Thank you.
I had a true laugh-out-loud moment – – when you say “Ok, jump and switch” from pigeon. I really started laughing! My husband was walking through as I did, but poor guy just didn’t get the joke.. hee hee.
You’ve also gifted me with my very first burst of emotion on the mat. When I came up into Upward Dog from the Plank on top of feet… wow. I just had a burst of tears. No, I hadn’t wrenched my back out… 😉 It was just this pure emotion – I felt more *in* that pose than I ever had before, and it touched something deep in me.
Thank you, thank you.
